Kerguelen Plateau Symposium 2017
The 2nd Kerguelen Plateau Symposium on Marine Ecosystems and Fisheries was held in 2017 and hosted at the CCAMLR Secretariat in Hobart, Australia. The meeting brought together more than 70 researchers studying in the Australian and French regions of the Kerguelen Plateau.
The material presented focused on the research and management that had been completed since the first symposium seven years prior.
Presentations focused on advances in marine ecosystem knowledge, marine geomorphology and oceanography, developments in marine policy, fisheries resource assessment and management, biology, biodiversity and conservation in the region.
The Symposium closed with a synthesis session where a common theme was realised: the importance of the Kerguelen Plateau as a natural laboratory in the face of a changing climate.
The proceedings of the KPS2017 can be found on the website of the Australian Antarctic Division.
